Memorial Day

I love Memorial Day! You get to spend time with your family, eat good food and it kicks off summer!

This Memorial Day we spent the Sunday before with Elias's family. We had a big dinner with of us there which was delish, then we headed over to the cometary. I always love going to the cometary and placing flowers on family memer's graves, I also love here stories about those passed before that I was never able to meet.

Since last year Elias' grandma Jane's grave received a headstone and so did his grandpa John's. 

It was eat to see their new head stones and again to hear great stories!

We all smashed into the cars with all of the flowers!!

Here is grandma Jane's head stone! Elias' aunt out that diet dr pepper there and told everyone to take a sip "because that's what grandma would want"

And here is grandpa John's! It is an exact replica of Grandma Carol's parents head stone.

And then I had to take this picture of grandma carol's gorgeous cardigan. She gave me the whole story on it. She had had it for decades and she actually wore it to the White House back in the 60's when they met Lindon B. Johnson, when they were privileged to raise the presidential turkey. Crazy I know!!!

Then on actual Memorial Day we went to my parents and had a nice relaxed barbecue! We had amazing ribs, macaroni and cheese and corn on the cob. Then we finished the night with some s'mores :) it was amazing!

All in all it was a great weekend, and I am SO happy it is summer :)
