Baby Clothes :)

Our little baby has been so loved already! We have bought her some stuff, and even more other people have bought her gifts :) The other day I was organizing her clothes and I put them in their own separate bins.  As I was separating things I just HAD to take pictures to remember the cuteness of what she has :)  When I showed Elias everything he about died. I think his exact words were "holy cow this little lady has more clothes than me!!"

I actually found some more stuff after I took these photos, like jeggings and plain onsies.  But seriously I love it all, and I can't wait to see our little lady fill out these clothes :) 

Most of the stuff that I personally bought was on killer deals at Gap and they even had more amazing for black friday and stuff I decided to hold off on buying things until after my showers.

Also we got this rug from Ikea a few weeks ago and I am absolutely obsessed!

Gender Old Wives Tales

so i thought it would be fun to see if the old wives tales were correct when it came to the gender of our baby!

so i googled a list of the different old wives tales and here they are.

1. how low can you go? so this one is a little hard since my stomach isn't too big yet BUT i would say that my belly starts poking out right under my rib cage. so i would say that this one is CORRECT

2. girls steal your beauty: this one is definitely CORRECT one of my first symptoms was the worst acne of my whole life!

3. this one is ridiculous and i didn't even want to do it but as i sit here writing this i decided to do it.  so it is the "ring swing" you take your wedding ring off, tie a string on it the let it swing over your belly.  if it swing in a straight line it is a girl and if it goes in circles it is a boy! surprisingly this one was CORRECT as well. But i tried it 2 more times to see if it would be correct and it was correct 2/3 times

4. drano/baking soda test: to be honest i haven't done this one and i'm not interested in it.  you pee in a cup and then ad a table spoon of drano or baking soda to it.  if it fizzes it's a boy, if it doesn't it's a girl.

5. heart rate: they say if the heart rate is over 140 they say it is a girl and under 140 is a boy.  this one is totally CORRECT as well! my first appointment the heart rate was 170, second appointment was 165 and third appointment was 165!

6. cravings: sweet or citrus indicate girl and more salty/savory indicates boy!  this one was also CORRECT! immediately after i got pregnant i started hated anything salt and all kinds of meat.  I even hated chips and salsa which is usually like one of my main food groups ha ha! *there was one exception to this though i loooooved hot/spicy chips in the first trimester.

8. weight gain: so this one is kind of funny because they say if your spouse gains weight than they say you are having a girl (because your spouse is indulging in all the sweets your craving). at first i for sure thought that this was wrong and then randomly elias told me that he gained 2 pounds ha ha! buuuut i don't think it is because elias is indulging in the "sweets that i'm craving" because elias is not big into sweets.

9. morning sickness: they say if you are having bad morning sickness than it's girl girl girl! and ding ding ding right again! my morning sickness was sooooo terrible in the first trimester so this one is CORRECT

10. i am going to copy the next one straight from the website If you've got a preggo friend, try this little experiment on her. Place a key in front of her and ask her to pick it up.

If she grabs it by the narrow part, she'll have a sweet little girl. If she picks it up by the round part, she'll have an adorable little boy."  so i obviously haven't done this one because my friend didn't do this to me and now if someone were to do it i would know which is which! ha ha 

so although i didn't believe in these at all it was still super fun to do!! of course you have a 50/50 chance sooooo it's not saying a lot. but i was pretty shocked that so many were right. i wonder how right these will be with our next baby... we'll see!!!!!

It's a...........................

We found out a gender this last Thursday. It's kind of a funny story I wasn't sure if I was going to be getting an ultrasound or not at my 16 week appt.  So I scheduled an appt at fetal fotos for the day after my appointment just in case. But I called my doctors office and asked his nurse if I was getting an ultrasound.. She was so vague on the phone and just kept saying "if he has time he can" I was a little frustrated but I thought it's not a big deal since I have the fetal fotos appt scheduled too. (Although I DID NOT) want to pay the $60 dollars to get it. 

So since I didn't know if I was getting the US or not I just went by myself to the appt. So after the nurse did her thing I was sitting in the room waiting for my dr. It was probably 15 minutes which is way longer than he normally takes and I was getting a little antsy. He finally comes in and he is a little out of breath and says "sorry to make you wait I decided to do a delivery at lunch" ha ha! He asked all his normal questions, used the Doppler to hear the heart beat (it was 160) and then he was done. I was a little disappointed until he looks at my chart and says "so you want an US?" And of course I said YES!! So he took me to the US room and asked "so do you want to know the gender?" And I told him yes but I didn't want him to tell me. (Since Elias wasn't there) so be said he would write it down and put it in an envelope for me.

So he started the US and right away I could see that our little bean wasn't a little bean anymore and was now an actual little baby! It was so so cute moving around sitting Indian style and just wiggling all over!

He assured me that the baby has two arms and two legs and looks good. He then told me he was going between the legs so I turned my head away.

My doctor reminded me that he couldn't ensure the gender 100% so I can't hold him liable ha ha. He took a few pictures and I asked him what his percent for this guess is. He said he was 90% sure. Which is good enough for me :)

He printed the pics and put them in an envelope with his guess.

Now it was just a waiting game! Elias and I wanted to find out together so I had to wait 4 hours till we were together, with the unsealed envelope in my hands!

Walking out of the office I was on cloud 9! I was basically skipping and nothing could take the smile off of my face. As I was driving back to work I was pondering the idea of having this baby and I thought of my patriarchal blessing that says something along the lines of "and when they are ready, you will be blessed with your own children". When THEY are ready, that struck me so hard! We live in such crazy times and this baby is READY to come down from heaven and be our child! I couldn't stop thinking how this little spirit must be SO strong and I CANNOT wait to meet it!

When Elias and I finally got together we were so nervous to open the envelope. He wanted me to open it, so I unfolded the sonograms until we saw GIRL!!!!!!! Our sweet angel is a girl :) we looked at each other so happy and just sat there saying "this is so crazy we are having a girl!" Elias was in complete shock, I was expecting it ha ha!

The way we decided to tell our families was to get Krispy Kreme donuts and have them fill them with pink creme. Which I saw this idea on Pinterest moooonnnths ago before I was even pregnant! I thought it was the most perfect idea because if anyone knows me they know that donuts are my faaaaaaav and also we just thought it was simple and cute. 

I called Krispy Kreme a few days before we told everyone to make sure it was a real thing and not just a made up pin. So I called and they said they can fill donuts with any color free of charge :) 

Friday night I called Krispy Kreme to order and told the girl to fill them with pink creme. I also asked if she could make sure that no filling was showing. She told me that "unfortunately we can't do that, because when we pull out the thing we use to fill them it always leave a little on the outside" I was bummed and just said okay and then she asked "are you suuure you're okay with that" and sounding disappointed I told her I'd figure something out. So I decided that I could just buy a can of whipped cream and squirt a little over the holes. 

(Lo and behold the amazing Krispy Kreme workers covered the holes for me! It must have been the disappointment in my voice that made them do it)

Baby Green

A We are having a baby!!!! :) 

Elias and I both looove kids! We love all of our nieces, nephews, cousins, and even just the cute kids in our ward. While dating and since we've been married we've always had open conversations about having kids but we decided we wanted to be married for at least 2 years before having kids. So this spring the stars aligned and we felt like it was the right time! (I also think it helped that Elias became obsessed with baby Jay the day he was born) 

So as I was training for the Ogden Half Marathon it started getting harder and harder to run which is usually opposite of what happens when training for a race right? On one run specifically I was supposed to run 10 miles, it was a rainy day but it was warm so I was excited! I geared up with a wind breaker and all! About 2.5 miles in I was soo out of breath, I took a little break went into a store and went to the bathroom as well as got a drink. So I turned around to head home. I ended up walk running which later turned into just walking, I was so out of breath I had an extremely upset stomach and kept burping almost like I was going to throw up! 

I remember when I was almost home I thought "I swear if I'm not pregnant I'm the biggest whimp ever!!" Ha ha long story short my 10 mile run turned into 5 miles and I was exhausted for the rest of the day. 

This was the first time I really felt like I was pregnant! 

The second time I thought something was out of the norm was one Sunday morning I woke up and I was having sharp pains in my uterus. If I moved quickly or anytime I stood up or sat down, and actually just walking I was having really sharp pains! They were so painful that I only went to the first our of church and even contemplated going to the hospital! I had heard people talk about "implantation pain" before and that was kind of my first thought! I couldn't think of anything else it would be. So when I came home from church I started researching on Dr. Google (I know it's so bad to do that but who doesn't?) and from what I read that's what it seemed like. But I didn't get my hopes up and I just scheduled an appointment with my doctor to go in the next week.

After that day I started getting really bad acne and my boobs hurt like crazy. In the same week we were going up to Tacoma to spend time with the Shumates, meet Enzo and be there for his baby blessing :) the whole time we were there I didn't feel like myself and I felt like I didn't look like myself since it was the worst acne I have ever had in my whole life!

But now I know why and it's totally worth it :) 

We got home from Tacoma on Sunday and then I was supposed to start my period that following Thursday. I always start right on the dot so when it didn't come on Thursday or Friday Elias and I decided that I should take a pregnancy test. So Friday night, after eating at Noodles with Elias's Dad (where I ate my dinner so fast and was still starving) we stopped at Walgreens and I went in and bought a box of 2 Walgreen's brand tests ha ha.

We went home and I got 2 positive tests! I was like shaking because I was so nervous, but we were both SO excited!!! 

Oh and also that was the day before my half marathon.. So you can say I didn't get too much sleep that night! And that little baby inside me is what kept me going in that race! It made time pass by so fast thinking about our little baby! And I was a little worried running, you just hear of so many people that miscarry..  But I decided that I was well trained and it wouldn't be too straining on my body :)

So those were all my first signs of little Baby Green :)
