This year Thanksgiving was pretty laid back. Elias and I got to sleep in which was so nice :) the we just laid around and watched some Netflix. After some time I ran to the store to pick up a few last minute things and i ended up having to go to two places because the first I went to was all out of whipping cream!
It was pretty funny because everyone I saw on the streets or in the stores were all in their workout clothes and it was obvious everyone had spent their mornings working out to prepare themselves for the thousands of calories coming later that day!
To be honest I was pretty jealous, that's what I did last year I was at Gold's Gym at 5:30 am for the annual "turkey burn". But I will say relaxing was great too. When I got home Elias and I were both hungry so Elias actually went out and got us some Mcdonald's! ha ha I'm not ashamed ;)
This year I volunteered to make the potatoes and a pumpkin pie. I chose to make my absolute favorite mashed potatoes that are actually called "dressed potatoes" you make them up and then put them in a casserole dish, drizzle some melted butter on top and sprinkle with almond slivers. I am obsessed with them!!! The pumpkin pie I made was just a basic recipe. (this was my first year ever making pies!) I felt like it was pretty easy; granted I did store bought crust. I promised Elias that next year I will try homemade :)
All in all it was a fun relaxed night. We drank lots of sparkling cider, ate too much, and just spent the evening hanging out. It was fun to just be with immediate family, and the whole night I just kept thinking how fun next year will be with a new family member :)
